Helsinki High School of Natural Sciences is a high school located in Käpylä, Helsinki , along Mäkelänkatu .

In high school, you can choose a general line or a line of science. About a third of high school students choose a science line. Helsinki High School of Natural Sciences is nicknamed Hellu and it cooperates with the nearby United School High School . Every year, the school has also been involved in international projects, which have included, for example, student exchanges. 

Helsinki High School of Natural Sciences was founded in 1999 . Today, the high school has more than 700 students and about 50 teachers. The principal of the school is Timo Hartikka and the deputy principal is Juha Salo. The lowest averages in 2019 were 8.75 for the general line and 9.35 for the natural science line.

Natural Science Line 

As its name implies, Helsinki High School of Natural Sciences is a city high school that has been given a special task in teaching science . About a third of the students study in the natural sciences. The science line has a tighter screen than the high school general line.

In the Natural Sciences line, students emphasize natural sciences in their studies by choosing at least 12 courses in biology, physics, chemistry or geography in addition to the compulsory courses. In this case, the student may choose to omit eight compulsory courses in other subjects from his / her study program. However, at least half of the compulsory courses must be taken in each subject.
