Livry-Gargan is a town located in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis , in the Île-de-France region , about twelve kilometers north-east of Paris. Its inhabitants are called the Livryens-Garganais.

Town planning
Land use
The city center is characterized by a combination of low DC buildings from the late xix th century and beginning of the xx th century , and small apartment buildings of four floors more often, but sometimes up to eight floors. These buildings are mostly the result of the renovation of downtown committed during the years 1960 and 1970. Almost all of the rest of the municipal area consists of suburban streets, parceled from the end of the xix th century .
The economic and commercial activity zones are concentrated on the edge of the national road 3 , mainly at the east exit of the city towards Meaux.
Transport
Livry-Gargan is not served by any station of the Paris Métro, RER, or suburban rail network. The closest station to Livry-Gargan is Sevran – Livry station on Paris RER line B. This station is located in the neighboring commune of Sevran, 1.9 km (1.2 mi) from the town center of Livry-Gargan.

Economy
At the beginning of xx th century , the city had four quarries of gypsum : Ragourdin, Leclaire, Chevallier and Aubry-Pachot. The old gypsum quarry, opened from 1870, is today exploited in underground galleries. Some galleries house mushroom houses.
The town has a large shopping area at the eastern exit of the town along the national road 3 including a Cora hypermarket, a Leroy Merlin store as well as various large brands (ready-to-wear, fishing accessories, catering. fast, etc.).
Businesses and businesses
In 2004, 178 companies were created in Livry-Gargan. The city has only one large company head office the regional head office of the construction company Eurovia.
The majority of companies are part of the tertiary sector, in particular commerce (28.2%), services to companies (12%), and to individuals (9.9%), or even education, health, social action (12.4%) and real estate activities (3%). Other sectors are not, however, devoid of activity: construction (18.3%), transport (7%), the consumer goods industry (3.7%) or the intermediate goods industry ( 2.2%). However, a few sectors of activity are struggling to survive: the capital goods industry (1.7%), the agricultural and food industry (1.4%), the automotive industry (0.1%) and energy (0.1%).
The town has two hotels: the “Campanile” hotel and the “Rendez-vous des Chauffeurs”, and more than forty restaurants.

The city of Livry-Gargan is in zone C, under the management of the Academy of Créteil, it has a relatively complete education system.

The Poudrerie park, on the other hand, has been the only classified site in the Seine-Saint-Denis department since 1994; but it mainly extends over the territory of the neighboring municipalities of Sevran , Villepinte and Vaujours . Only a tiny fraction of the park is located on the territory of Livry-Gargan.
