Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Hospital of the Budapest Municipality

The Budapest Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Budapest , located in the 10th district , in Kőbánya.

In 1927, a decree was issued to replace the poor house in Roses Square with a new hospital with 1,600 beds. There were two plans for the construction, planned for two reasons for financial reasons. The first phase involved the construction of a hospital building and a lung ward. Construction was cheaper than expected, costing 3,793,701 pengos . Between July 1930 and the fall of 1931, the buildings in the first phase were erected in a relatively short time. However, the actual opening was only in 1932. In its day, the hospital was unique even in Europe: it had pedestrian gardens, large terraces and sports facilities.
The Second World War disrupted the order of the hospital, but in 1945 it was already almost every location.
The first major enlargements took place between 1955 and 1971. Then, in the 1970s, the Bajcsy Hospital was expanded with huge parts of the building.
Between 1995 and 2009, Dr. László Papp was the director of the institution.
