Cultural heritage

The mining eco-museum traces the history from 1855 to 1979 of an old reconstructed mine-school. Eight years were needed for five former miners, helped by a few young people, to reconstruct the universe from the bottom of the mine. The visitor can hear the noise of the rolling of the machines and the bursts of voices of the miners. He can also watch two films: one on coal mining; the other on the descent of General de Gaulle in wells n o  6 1959 .

The Museum of Calculation and Writing (JF Willecoq Museum) is a private museum, unique in France. It traces the history of writing and arithmetic through very rare and very old machines such as the Enigma cipher machine (a German coding machine that served during the Second World War). Nearly 600 ancient pieces acquired over the years are on display: typewriters and calculating the xiv th to the xx th  century, manual productions related to old books, letters, writing tablets, engraving, and written of famous men.
