An international company with deep local roots

The history of Carlsberg Bulgaria dates back to 1882, when the Czech master brewer Franz Milde arrived in Shumen and together with enterprising people from Shumen started one of the oldest breweries in Bulgaria – Shumen beer.

After 2002, Shumen Beer became part of the large family of the world Danish concern Carlsberg.

In August 2004 the shareholders of the company voted for a change in the company name of Carlsberg Bulgaria AD. In September, the two breweries – Shumen Beer and Pirin Beer – combine resources and assets under the name Carlsberg Bulgaria.
