The castle or palazzo dei Pio , belonging to the family of the same name , is an uneven ensemble of buildings from different periods that extends over Piazza dei Martiri and Piazzale Re Astolfo , the medieval heart of the city of Carpi .

The complex was then used for different purposes in the centuries following the fall of the Pio and in recent times it houses the municipal historical archive of Carpi, the museums (with the sections “Museum of the palace”, “Museum of the city” and “Museum monument to the political and racial deportee “) and the” Castle of the boys “and is the occasional venue for art exhibitions.

Inside the castle are the civic museums, ranked into several sections: the Museo Civico Giulio Ferrari, the City Museum, the exhibition woodcuts by Ugo da Carpi , a tribute to Blumarine by Anna Molinari and other educational sections historical.
