Escola Superior de Saúde de Bragança

The Escola Superior de Saúde de Bragança (ESSa) is one of five schools integrated in the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança. It is a public higher education institution whose mission is the training of 1st and 2nd cycle, postgraduate training, research and the provision of services to the community, in the field of health. Throughout its existence, it has sought to reconcile a growth strategy with the fundamental principle of the pursuit of formative quality, fulfilling its institutional function, which is why it has deserved the recognition of other educational institutions, of health and of the community in general. As a higher education institution, it currently occupies an important training space in the area of ​​health sciences, constituting itself as a fundamental pillar for the development of the region. Through Ordinance No. 222/71, of 30 April, regulated by Ordinance No. 34/70, this school institution was created. Between the years 1972 and 1992, the Nursing School of Bragança developed its training in the area of ​​Nursing. Ordinance No. 821/89, of 15 September, converts Nursing Schools into Higher Nursing Schools. Decree-Law No. 99/2001 of 28 March integrates the School at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança and later Ordinance No. 475/03 of 11 June, converts it into a School of Health.
