The General Hospital of Kastoria, situated in a remote area in the northwestern part of Greece, is the only public hospital that caters to the medical needs of the population of the Prefecture of Kastoria. It has been operating since 1936, and until 1971 functioned as a Municipal Hospital located in the center of the city of Kastoria. In 1971, the hospital was relocated to its current premises, which cover an area 3,200m2. The hospital has nine clinics, including gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, neurology and pathology, and an external medical unit that operates medical fields and an emergency unit. The hospital has 120 patient beds.
