Metropolitan School Frankfurt

Welcome to MSF

Metropolitan School Frankfurt is exceptional. It is warm and welcoming. It provides an excellent international education to more than 630 students from 55 countries while maintaining a family-like atmosphere. Large enough to offer a wide selection of teaching and learning opportunities, MSF is small enough to feel like home. It offers a safe, caring, and inspiring environment for students to thrive as independent thinkers, discover their strengths and develop skills to succeed, learn about the world around them, enjoy extra-curricular activities, and form lasting friendships.

Our rigorous academic programmes and outstanding native-speaking teaching staff are our recipe for delivering the highest quality education possible. This is evidenced by our high IB Diploma pass rate, with an average score of 36 points and the highest score of 45 points (45 is the maximum). The 2020 IGCSE results were also outstanding with 97% of our students achieving A*-C in five or more IGCSE subjects.

Our Welcoming Committee run by MSF parent volunteers helps new MSF families quickly integrate into the school community and local area and provide support through culture coordinators to ease the transition to a new home. The parent class representatives and the Friends of MSF organise events throughout the year to strengthen community ties and celebrate internationalism and diversity.

Director’s Welcome

When I started Metropolitan School over 12 years ago, I had the vision of an international school with happy, self-confident children, who feel valued with a sense of belonging. I pictured supportive friends in classrooms, guided by excellent teachers who allow students to find the best in themselves and succeed in what they do.

Today, more than 12 years later, our mission statement reflects these goals and you can see this vision realized across the school, from the Early Years to the IB Diploma years.

The privilege of working in a school is watching children grow. Growing not only in knowledge and skills but as personalities and in confidence. This is the basis for their friendships, their academic achievements and extracurricular activities inside and outside of school.

It is our purpose at Metropolitan School Frankfurt to inspire students and fulfill their potential both here at school, and beyond.

Welcome to our school!

Kind regards,

Peter Ferres

Teaching & Learning

Metropolitan School Frankfurt encourages and supports its students. Equally, it challenges and we celebrate in their success. Working in partnership with parents and students, we provide a transparent and cooperative learning environment that inspires our students to become engaged in both academic and extra-curricular programmes. Our average class sizes of 18 are small which allows us to focus on the skills and talents of each individual student. Our highly qualified and dedicated team of teachers, recruited from all over the world, adds to the rich tapestry of our dynamic community.

The curriculum is international and comprehensive, designed to meet the needs of the international and domestic student population. Teaching and learning is carefully balanced to take into account local culture and the national academic curriculum requirements of Germany. It caters to a wide range of abilities, learning styles and backgrounds and is committed to providing an academic curriculum that leads to a globally recognised university preparation programme in Grades 11 and 12.

Students are accustomed to formative and summative assessments. Assessments become more rigorous as the students grow and develop. Students are taught from the beginning of Secondary School how to prepare for an examination and are introduced to formal examination conditions.
