The Regional History Museum in Kardzhali was established in 1965 in order to study, preserve and promote the cultural and historical heritage in the Eastern Rhodopes. Today, it is an established institution with managerial, coordinating and executive functions. Carries out research, collection, collection, exhibition and promotion work. Its main fund includes over 40,000 cultural values ​​related to the history and nature of the Eastern Rhodopes. The museum is housed in a unique building, declared an architectural monument of national importance in 2005. It is located in a beautiful park, where over 30 exotic plant species grow. The building was built in the period 1922-1930. 

After adaptation, its area is organized on 3 floors, in 30 exhibition halls, which house the exhibitions of the Department of Archeology, Ethnography and Nature.

The building of the museum and the expositions in it are accessible for disadvantaged people.
