SAMS is the largest private health subsystem in the country, with a unique history in the provision of health services in Portugal.

The SAMS network includes the SAMS Hospital, the Lisbon Clinical Center, 17 clinics across the country, optics, parapharmacy and a nursing home.

SAMS guarantees its beneficiaries health protection, in complement to the NHS, through its network of clinics.

At its health units, SAMS also provides clinical services to private users, from health insurance companies or through agreements and partnerships with other organizations.

To the beneficiaries who use external services, outside the SNS, SAMS assigns co-payments – payment or reimbursement of expenses, under the terms of the respective Regulation.

The SAMS Hospital and the Lisbon Clinical Center are equipped with equipment of the highest technological level, ensuring high standards of quality and safety.

SAMS is an entity endowed with administrative and financial autonomy, managed by the Banking, Insurance and Technology Union – MAIS Union.
