Visitor center Waterpoort Vlaardingen
Waterpoort Vlaardingen is a construction and information facility on the Vlaardingse Vaart, Broekkade 3 in Vlaardingen. Rightly the water gate within the recreational gates to Midden-Delfland and a recreational reception area at the entrance of the Broekpolder. The mooring facility forms the home base for the floating visitor center, on board the historic Hagenaar Theodora. This cargo ship originally sailing owes its ship type to the sailing area for which the ship type was once built. The ship contains various audiovisual presentations, an on-board library with information about the Broekpolder and Midden-Delfland and a unique B&B (Boat & Bed) in the old skipper’s cabin in the rear. You can not only visit the ship to see what there is to do in the area, but also to rent an electric sloop (and soon an open sailing boat). The project has no profit motive, but does have the ambition to maintain the social concept on a cost-effective basis.
From 2015, the Waterpoort Vlaardingen can be experienced as a meeting place, base for water recreation and rental point, and the visitor center will also be open from May 2017.
