One of the most flowery, greenest cities in Hungary, in 2008 it won the highest prize of the Organizing Committee for a Flowery Hungary, the Golden Rose Prize .
Zalaegerszeg is the administrative center of Zala county in western Hungary. Zalaegerszeg lies on the banks of the Zala River, close to the Slovenian and Austrian borders and 220 kilometres (137 miles) west-southwest of Budapest by road.

Church buildings
- Roman Catholic Parish Church of Mary Magdalene – built between 1750 and 1760, Baroque style, designed by Master József Tierhardt , the ceiling paintings were restored by Margit Haraszti in the 70’s . It was consecrated in 1809.
- Heart of Jesus Franciscan Parish Church or Olai Church – located in the part of town called Ola , 1925–1926, neo-baroque style, designed by Ivan Kotsis . Happy IV. It was built in memory of King Charles and was renovated in 2004.
- Church of the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin Mary – József Mindszenty Memorial Church, built in 2004, by István Cigány .
- Reformed Church – Built in 1942 in Transylvanian style, made of wood and red sandstone, based on the plans of Bálint Szeghalmy .
- Lutheran Church – dates from 1906, neo-Gothic style, designed by Ernő Gerei .
- Calvary Chapel – built in 1756 in Baroque style.
- Andráshida Church – Romanesque style, completely restored in 1785.

Institutions, infrastructure facilities
- Zalaegerszeg Court , the former County Hall between 1730-1732, baroque, Franz Allio built according to the plans of the Sidi Sidy family of Paul sidi Sidy alszolgabíró Zalaegerszeg, building commissioner under management.
- Quarter house : It was built in 1765 as the accommodation of the passing soldiers by the decree of Maria Theresa.
- Arany Bárány Hotel: 1893–1894, according to the plans of architect János Brenner
- TV tower : from 1975, 95.4 m high, and the height of the espresso is 53.2 m.
- Lace houses: residential houses according to the plans of György Vadász .
- Onpita isakita from the 19th century, the old hospital of the town.

Museums
- Göcsej Museum – Zala County Museums Directorate – from 1968, with the collection of sculptor Zsigmond Kisfaludi Strobl and ceramicist János Németh .
- Göcsej Open-Air Ethnographic Museum – Open-air museum from 1969 in the Ola district.
- Finno-Ugric Ethnographic Park – handed over in 2001 as an extension of the Open-Air Museum.
- Hungarian Oil Industry Museum ( MOIM for short ) – located next to the Open-Air Museum in the Ola district.
- Papp Simon Memorial Room – a memorial exhibition of his life and work, compiled from the legacy of a geologist, university professor and academic.
- City Concert and Exhibition Hall – a former synagogue, built in 1904 according to the plans of József Stern , in an eclectic style with Byzantine elements.
- House of Craftsmen – opened its doors in 1982 on the shores of Lake Gébárti , in the Ságod district.
- Pottery House – Páterdomb was established in 1978.
Public sculptures, monuments
There are about 50 public works in the city, the most significant of which are:
- Göcsej tulip fountain: from 1985, created by sculptor Péter Szabolcs and architect Gyula Pelényi .
- Statue of Dezső Keresztury in Keresztury Square.
- Dancing Girl: Bronze Statue, by Ferenc Medgyessy , won by the city at the television competition entitled Rainbow.
- Statue of József Mindszenty .
- Equestrian statue of Miklós Zrínyi : 1989, by Béla Tóth .
- Statue of László Csány : erected in 1931, by János Istók .
- Statue of Ferenc Deák : erected on September 1, 1879, by Miklós Vay . It was the first Deák statue in Hungary.
- Holy Trinity Statue : renovated in September 2006 in Mindszenty Square.
- Little scribbler: the sculpture is the work of Zsigmond Kisfaludi Strobl, it has been in place since 1966.
- Lily: also the work of Zsigmond Kisfaludi Strobl, this sculpture depicting the nude in the Vizslapark, from 1967.
- ARC. Statue of King Bela .
- Music lesson in front of the Mayor’s Office.
- The 377 steam locomotive “Gizike” next to the train station.
- Bust of János Kálvin next to the Reformed church.
- Statue of Immaculata in the garden of the Italian church.
- The “earth tower clock” in front of the Sándor Hevesi Theater . The clockwork was restored by József Preisz and Miklós Kancsal, the ceramic decoration is the work of János Németh .
- Statue of oil explorers Jenő Grantner from 1970 on the facade of the House of Lords.
- Ho Chi Minh statue by sculptor László Marton from 1976.
- Statue of Albert Wass in the Doge Park from 2008.
Natural attractions
- Azalea Valley – a botanically protected area of the Lower Forest.
- Csácsi Arboretum – on the northeastern border of Zalaegerszeg, in the Csácsbozsok district, approx. There is a 60-hectare protected area 4 km away.
In addition to the Csácsi Arboretum, the Deák Square Park, the row of sycamore trees, the Dózsa grove , the garden of the Palatinus restaurant, the chestnut tree in Szentzsébethegy, the linden trees in the Ola cemetery and the railway station and the horse chestnut row in Botfa came under local protection . In 2010, this list was expanded to include five more members: the Park Forest, the valley of the Pálosfai stream, the Bozsoki hill, the round ash tree row on Szabadság Street and the park on Andráshida Street.
- Lake Gébárti : an artificial lake created in 1975 by damming two small streams.
