The establishment of the Higher School of Commerce in Svishtov has its roots in the Revival history of the city. During the Renaissance, it established itself as an important trade center, where the sprouts of rich educational and cultural institutions flourished. The city is a nest of patriotic Bulgarians, a hearth of charitable traditions in favor of the People’s Rise. Progressive merchants and intellectuals cherish Svishtov’s inner dream to measure economic, cultural and spiritual growth with the most valuable thing in Europe.

This heats up the scorching heat of renewal even more. The “Great Flame” of jealousy, the Revival enthusiasm give birth to the noble donation tradition for the needs of education. In the “Constantinople Gazette” from July 1858 we read: “… how Svishtov is celebrated, as they call the capital of the doctrine in Bulgaria!”
