Čakovec (latitude 46.38 N, longitude 16.43 E, altitude 164 m) is a town in northern Croatia and the seat of Međimurje County, a region located between the rivers Mura and Drava. Čakovec is administrative, economic and cultural center of Međimurje County.
The rich history of Čakovec and Međimurje is kept from in the Museum located in the Old Town of Zrinski.
In the immediate vicinity are other institutions important for the cultural life of the city: the Library and the Cultural Center, which hosts film, music and theater performances, and art exhibitions. Widely known for its European spirit and hospitality, Čakovec is proud of its diverse trade, catering and sports and recreational offer. Today, Čakovec is probably best known for its textile industry, but for its recognizability, construction, graphic and printing activities, metal processing and mechanical engineering. The food industry are equally important.
Regarding the City of Čakovec, let us mention the monograph of the City of Čakovec, which is a unique project of the City of Čakovec. It was issued in May 2005 with a print of 2000 copies by the publishing house “Zrinski” d.d. Čakovec.
Ljubica Duić was in charge of the text of the monograph. Artistic photographs were taken by Damir Klaić – Ključ. The design comes from Boris Lisjak, Dvije Lije studio.
