The Middle Tejo Hospital Center, EPE includes three hospital units, located in Abrantes, Tomar and Torres Novas. CHMT has an area of ​​influence that encompasses 15 counties, serving a population of about 266 thousand inhabitants.

Centro Hospitalar do Médio Tejo, EPE was created through Decree-Law no. 93/2005, of 7 June, which carried out the transformation of public business entities in hospitals previously with the nature of a public limited company, having seen the respective statutes approved by the Decree-Law 233/2005, which transforms Hospitals SA into Public Business Entities, EPE

Its mission is to provide differentiated health care, with efficiency and quality, in conjunction with other health and social services in the community, at affordable costs, to users in the area of ​​influence of the Middle Tejo, promoting complementarity between hospitals and betting on motivation and satisfaction of its professionals.

Its objective is the treatment and rehabilitation, in a clinically adequate time, of the patients, under optimal conditions of quality and humanity of the services provided.

CHMT is governed by the principle of access to the National Health Service, in accordance with the rules of organization and health care networks.
