Comtrade – Our technology can shape your world

There’s more to us than meets the eye

Comtrade is a dynamic and well-established group of technology companies, with a 30-year track record of innovation and steady development. Founded as a software engineering and services company, today it stands at the forefront of the industry in Southeast Europe, offering high quality vendor and proprietary software solutions, as well as outstanding system integration services to improve digital transformation across industries.
Comtrade operates as a holding company for many vibrant businesses and acts as an incubator for new and exciting technologies. Partnering with top global vendors as a service provider, the company is focused on each customer receiving high quality IT solutions in order to improve efficiency.

With over 2000 customers worldwide, we leverage our history as a service provider to ensure that every customer receives the same high level of quality and service across all of our businesses.

Our ongoing development partnership with HP started 25 years ago

Starting the partnership with HP Software Research & Development in 1991, Comtrade has won the status of an HP Platinum Partner five years later. Our team of HP Software and ITIL-certified consultants has delivered projects to more than 40 large enterprises and telecommunications service providers in the EMEA region, delivering management solutions that are the best in their class.

In time, HP has recognized that involving long-term partners during the early stages of product development process may help them design better solutions. Based on the concept of Open Innovation, HP Autonomy thus established a new form of strategic partnership, focused on uncovering new ideas, reducing risk, increasing speed and leveraging scarce resources. In combining their capabilities and innovation resources, both companies lower risk by better understanding “what is out there”.

As part of EUTYPES, we innovate software testing through advanced math

As member of the European COST (Cooperation in Science and Technology network) Comtrade, along with the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana, represents Slovenija in EUTYPES.

An active participation in research activities within the EUTYPES program gives Comtrade access to the latest developments in mathematical type theory and logic. This branch of theoretical computing forms the basis for modern programming languages, software development and software validation.

The expected results are: a programming language that will be a step ahead of the competition in the field of high-tech software service development, the use of type theory to formally validate future solutions and an ability to identify issues that cannot be discovered using the traditional approach to software testing.

Researchers worldwide access CERN data via our data sharing system

As of November 2015, Comtrade has joined CERN’s openlab as an associate member. Our role at this European Organization for Nuclear Research outlet is to enhance collaboration among the growing number of research organizations which take part in the experiments done in the world’s most powerful particle accelerator – the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

Just as the amount of data to process increases, so does the number of research organizations participating in these experiments. “We have a tremendous amount of data that needs to be managed, and this is rapidly growing,” Alberto Di Meglio, head of CERN openlab, said at the time. “We provide reliable access and support to the researchers collaborating in the experiments. Comtrade’s expertise will be a huge asset in helping us to continue supporting our community in this manner, even as experimental collaborations grow and more data is produced.”

Our task is to help improve access to and management of that data. This means streamlining the flow of petabytes of data – CERN’s EOS Storage System installation runs across two centers and has 140 petabytes of installed disk space.

Through openlab, CERN collaborates with leading ICT companies and research institutes. Their partners are Huawei, Intel, Oracle and Siemens, while Brocade, Cisco, IDT, Rackspace and Seagate contribute in different ways; Yandex and Comtrade are associate members.

In mid-2018, CERN and Comtrade signed another 3-year agreement, designating Comtrade as the provider of technical support and documentation for EOS, the open-source core of CERN’s data synchronization and sharing system, which serves the scientific community worldwide.
