DAČICKÝ HOUSE – AN INTERACTIVE EXHIBITION ABOUT KUTNÁ HORA AND UNESCO

Czechia

Dačický’s house, located on a sloping square in sight of the Stone Fountain, is a unique exhibit in itself. Its core is a pre-Hussite house, which underwent a generous reconstruction after 1500 for the Utraquist bishop Filip Villanuova, and which in the middle of the 16th century became the birthplace of the chronicler Mikuláš Dačický of Heslov. And the visitor can see it from the cellar to the attic. Inside, he will find an interactive exhibition, the first of its kind in the Czech Republic, which will present UNESCO, monuments on its list in our country, but above all it will answer the question why Kutná Hora is part of the family of these most important landmarks in the world! In the introduction, the visitor will get acquainted with the UNESCO organization and the world context of the exhibition. The tour of the house continues in the Portal Hall, named after a collection of Gothic portals, from where one enters the Bishop’s Chapel, once the most important space in the house. An exhibition about the inhabitants of the house awaits him, but above all the story of the unique Gothic tiles found in this area. The tour of the ground floor then continues through a photographic reportage Dačický’s house and its restoration. In the glass courtyard atrium and basement of the house, the visitor attends an experiential exhibition! In the IQ park there is a touch table, animated film or videomapping on the model of the church of St. Barbora, children’s kits and other play elements. From here you enter the cellars. An extremely popular interactive floor projection awaits in the first cellar space, after which one passes to the second floor of the cellars, where you can see the spatial projection of UNESCO Monuments in the Czech Republic and in the most hidden corner of the house a surprise for the little ones: the talking permoník… The floor of the house is then dedicated to seasonal exhibitions and cultural and educational activities. The conference hall provides state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment for seminars, conferences, as well as concerts and can accommodate up to 60 listeners. In the other areas of the floor, seasonal exhibitions from various areas of UNESCO monuments and themes of the anniversary of architecture in Kutná Hora take place every year. You can climb up two stairs here or be taken by a comfortable personal lift. The attic creates a completely contemporary space for teaching activities. The lecture hall has a capacity of 25 listeners and offers all audiovisual equipment. In the hall with an elevator there is a presentation space of the project partners, which are the Kutná Hora Foundation – a UNESCO monument (guarantor of the exhibition and operator of the center) and the University of Pardubice. Teaching programs for schools take place in the Children’s Studio. We look forward to you!
