GENERATION
The Core Regulated Activity (CRA) of Generation is one of the that the EAC has incorporated with the aim of facilitating its operation while complying with the requirements of the Laws Regulating the Electricity Market of 2003 to 2015, CERA’s Regulatory Decision 04/2014 and its letter to the EAC dated 14/11/2014 in which it refers to the decision to approve the fundamental principles of the Plan to Comply with Operational Unbundling, submitted to CERA on 24/10/2014.
Activities relating to Generation are carried out by the Generation Unit, which belongs to the EAC’s Generation and Supply Business Uni
TRANSMISSION
The Core Regulated Activity of Transmission and specifically the Transmission System Owner, is one of the three Units of the Network Business Unit and is responsible for the planning, specifications, technology and construction work related to the operation and maintenance of the Transmission Network, with the objective of responding to the ever-increasing need for electricity while maintaining the reliability of the Transmission System.
The Transmission Network is the backbone of the EAC’s electricity system, connecting the Power Stations to the Distribution Network.
According to the Transmission and Distribution Rules, Transmission begins from the busbars of the Transmission Substations that are housed in the Power Stations and via 132 kV or 66 kV overhead power lines or underground cables reaches the 11kV or 22 kV Medium Voltage switchgear in all the other Transmission Substations that are usually located within the load centres.
For operational reasons, the Transmission System Owner Unit is divided into the following activities: Transmission Substations, Overhead or Underground Transmission Network, Protection and Technology, System Studies, Area Offices-Transmission.
SUPPLY
The Core Regulated Activity (CRA) of Supply is one of the four CRAs that the EAC has incorporated with the aim of facilitating its operation while complying with the requirements of the Laws Regulating the Electricity Market of 2003 to 2015 and CERA’s Regulatory Decision 04/2014.
Supply-related activities are carried out by the Supply Unit, which belongs to the EAC’s Generation & Supply Unit.
The Supply Unit is responsible for:
- The provision of electricity supply services
- Drawing up supply contracts
- Maintaining customer records
- Organising and operating the Customer Service Centres with regard to the electricity supply (issuing, sending, monitoring and payment of bills, connection and reconnection orders, customer information and customer support on supply issues)
- The smooth operation of the Contact Centre and all EAC customer service systems
- Management and resolution of complaints concerning bills, service and tariffs
- Electricity Market participation and sales of electricity
