At first glance, the historic building hides modern equipment inside. Thanks to the active approach of some teachers to the creation of pilot projects, the school obtains funds from state and European subsidies and was able to use these funds to acquire new computer technology. (We are currently starting a project from the OP RDE program, thanks to which we want to provide better quality ICT equipment for the children of our school and to provide support for gifted pupils and pupils requiring help with teaching.)
Our school is known for its focus on developing children’s skills in the field of information technology and we focus on supporting sports. At the 2nd level, students have extended extended computer science teaching. Previously, our school was famous as a school with extended TV lessons and an orientation to ice hockey. Even with the change in the school educational program, we continue to support the sports focus of our school. We concentrate young athletes – (not only) hockey players and we try to create conditions for the possibility of regular training. (Pupils have a modified schedule so that they can pursue trainings during and outside classes.) Pupils in the 5th – 9th grades compete in the regional pupils’ league. Our students are also very successful in hockey, where they regularly collect successes and victories in the district and regional rounds of the competition. He also participates in the national championship.
The school also has a school choir NOVA DOMUS and a small choir NOVADOMÁČEK. Our school is also called “STONOŽKOVÁ” – for years of cooperation with the humanitarian movement “Centipede”. Our little “Paramedics” and “Firefighters” are also doing very well.
The school teaches English as the main language from the 3rd year. Pupils can choose German as a second foreign language from the 7th grade. In the 7th – 9th grade, students can choose from the following compulsory optional subjects: applied art activities, choral singing, sports games. Compared to previous years, there was a slight adjustment of optional subjects – ie a reduction in the number of available hours, due to the strengthening of teaching basic subjects, where children began to have problems with mastering the curriculum. In the 6th and 9th grade, we increased the teaching of the Czech language by 1 hour per week, in the 7th grade, we strengthened the teaching of mathematics by 1 hour.
In the building we have one computer room with 24 student computers and one teacher computer, connected in a network and connected to the Internet, with the Windows 7 operating system. When working in the subject of informatics, students have the opportunity to try working with a scanner and digital cameras. The computer room is equipped with a data projector.
Furthermore, the classes are equipped with interactive whiteboards – these are second-class classrooms and 7 first-class classrooms. The remaining classrooms of the school are equipped with a teacher’s computer and data projectors.
Other equipment
The school has 26 classrooms, of which 11 professional (1 computer, kitchen, workshop, language, art education, physics – chemistry, history, geography, natural history.) The professional classroom – school kitchen – was newly furnished and equipped last year from our founder. There is also a school library and a gym in the building. The schoolyard is used for sports events and relaxation during large breaks.
There is a school canteen on the ground floor of the building.
For the school group, 2 new workplaces were built on the 3rd floor of the school building from the city’s resources. For the 3rd department, smaller spaces on the 1st floor of the school building were adapted.
This school year, the founder repaired the corridor on the ground floor (to the school workshops), and the floor covering in 2 classrooms was also replaced. This event followed last year’s repair of the facade and replacement of windows in the entire wing of the school yard. This made the work environment more cozy for our students.
