South Savo Vocational College (Esedu) is a multidisciplinary professional educational facility , which was launched on the basis of a renewed ownership in August 2009. The Vocational Institute is managed by the South Savo Education Ltd, which is the Mikkeli and Pieksämäki , jointly owned by the cities of the Companies. This limited company is the successor of the former Etelä-Savo Education Consortium (Etelä-Savo Vocational College) and Keski-Savo Learning Center Municipality Consortium (Pieksämäki Vocational College). Esedu provides teaching in both locations. In addition, many studies can be completed online and the undergraduate degree in forest machine operator can be studied in Savonlinna . Esedu has a cooperation agreement with the University of Applied Sciences of South-East Finland (XAMK).
In 2018, a total of 3,450 vocational education students studied in Esedu. In addition to youth students, a large number of adult students study at a vocational college every year. There are almost 380 staff at Etelä-Savo Vocational College.
