Our grammar school is a school rich in history and present. In 2019, it celebrated its 135th anniversary (16 September 1884). The history of the first Czech grammar school in Slovakia binds with its tradition and there is really something to build on.

The grammar school played an important role in all important periods not only of the town of Uherské Hradiště, but also of the whole Slovácko region. It has been providing the highest general education for 135 years and thus gives education to the entire region.

Personalities such as Bedřich Beneš Buchlovan, Zdeněk Chalabala, František Kožík, Dana Zátopková, Josef Abrhám, Leoš Novotný, Štěpán Hulík, Eva Josefíková and many others studied in his benches.

Today, it has 32 classes with more than 930 students, taught by 78 teachers. There are two classes in each year of the eight-year grammar school, four classes in the four-year grammar school. Two-fifths of the pupils are from Uherské Hradiště, the others commute from more or less distant places.
