Helen Doron – World Leader in Teaching English as a Second Language

More than 30 years ago, Helen Doron had a moment of inspiration while watching her daughter learn the violin using the Suzuki method. In effect, Dr. Suzuki taught how to play the violin by listening to music and not reading music. Helen realized that this was also the best method for teaching a language. If Suzuki taught the language of music, we should teach the music of language!
As a linguistic scientist, Helen Doron deeply understood the mechanisms of language. As a teacher, I was aware of the challenges inherent in teaching children English as a second language.
