The Hradec Králové University Hospital fulfills its historical legacy in close cooperation with the Medical Faculty in Hradec Králové of Charles University in Prague and other partners such as the JE Purkyně Military Medical Academy and the Faculty of Pharmacy of Charles University. It is not possible to list all the improvements that have taken place at the University Hospital. However, the evaluation of the professional public and the evaluation of the patients themselves show that even today, what applied at its birth applies to its employees, namely the principle of “The well-being of the sick be to everyone the highest order”.
The Hradec Králové University Hospital is preparing a major modernization of surgical specialties for a total of 2.4 billion crowns. The project, which envisages the construction of an extension and the subsequent reconstruction and modernization of the current Pavilion of Academician Bedrna, is included among the strategic investments of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. Construction work could begin in 2021 and is scheduled to be completed five years later.
In 2017, the University Hospital organized an international architectural and urban planning competition, with an expert jury of 17 participants determining the M2AU studio as the winner. In 2018, the draft project documentation for the zoning procedure should be completed, a year later for the building permit and the selection of the building contractor. In the new center there will be 16 bed wards with 420 beds
