Institute for Information Technologies Kragujevac – Institut za informacione tehnologije Kragujevac

The Institute for Information Technologies Kragujevac, founded on June 6, 2019 by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, is a state scientific institute and the last member of the University of Kragujevac. The founding of the institute, part of the University of Kragujevac, created an institutional framework for all ambitious scientists in the field of technical-technological, natural-mathematical and social-humanistic sciences, who will be given the chance to engage in research in their country, following world trends in the fields their interests. Establishing a multidisciplinary scientific research institute in the field of information technologies, which permeates all the above-mentioned areas, will enable a significant increase in the scope and quality of scientific research work, as well as the development and application of information technologies in the field of biomedicine, bioengineering and bioinformatics.

The Institute of Information Technologies unites several scientific fields through the application of information technologies in natural-mathematical, technical-technological, medical, biotechnical and social sciences, which establishes closer cooperation between research groups with different research focuses, and significantly increases the scope and quality scientific research work and improves opportunities for multidisciplinary research. Considering the trends in modern science, with the increasing influence of computer science and information and communication technologies, the mission of the Institute will be precisely to advance in the field of information technologies through research, development and education. Multidisciplinarity of research will be one of the directions of development, so that the Institute would be able to follow the development of modern science.

The scientific research work of the Institute is oriented towards fundamental and applied research through a program of basic research and basic directed research, a research program in the field of technological development and a program of knowledge and technology transfer and encouraging the application of the results of scientific research work. Cooperation with business partners will create opportunities for additional education of employees in partner companies. The Institute will participate in the implementation of master’s and doctoral study programs, which are held by the faculties or the University, and which will be designed to fully meet the needs of modern society (business or the public sector). Also, by networking with the TEMPUS Foundation and through Erasmus+ programs, the institute will contribute to internationalization and positioning in the global research space, by participating in international projects and initiatives in the field of information technologies.
