The ISK (International Transition Class) is a course for foreign-language students between 12 and 18 years of age. In the ISK, pupils are welcomed from all parts of the world who do not yet or insufficiently master the Dutch language.
The pupils in the ISK learn enough Dutch in an average of two years to be able to continue on to secondary education (VO) or secondary vocational education (MBO). In addition, the students are prepared for a successful participation in Dutch society and they can become acquainted with aspects of Dutch culture. The main task of the ISK is to ‘switch’ foreign-language pupils to Dutch-language education, at the level that suits his or her capabilities.
