The kindergarten is a place of living, play, and learning, open and flexible. The entire organization of the kindergarten is aligned with the needs of the child and the parents.
Mission of the kindergarten: To provide quality conditions for the growth and development of children, while offering support to parents as partners in upbringing.
Programs
Early and preschool education in the Jelsa Kindergarten takes place in 8 educational groups. The educational work in the Jelsa Centre is carried out in both morning and afternoon shifts. In the morning shift, six educators work in four educational groups. The “Ribice” and “Pčelice” groups have a 5.5-hour program, each with one educator. The “Leptirići” group has two educators in an 8-hour program, and in the “Zvjezdice” group, the nursery group, two educators work in a 10-hour program. In the afternoon shift, two 5.5-hour programs are organized, the “Bubamare” and “Cvjetići” groups, each with two educators.
In the Vrboska branch, work is organized in one educational group, “Dupini,” with one educator.
The Svirče branch has one educational group, “Gardelini,” with a 5.5-hour program and one educator.
Work in the Kindergarten (direct work with children) begins at 6:30 AM and ends at 7:30 PM. Although the educational work in the Jelsa Kindergarten takes place across three locations, the educators and members of the professional service foster teamwork, primarily seen in the exchange of ideas, mutual support, and lifelong learning. In addition to projects at the Kindergarten level, which include not only all the children but also their parents and families, Jelsa Kindergarten continuously nurtures and develops cooperation with all stakeholders in the local and broader community: the Jelsa Municipality Museum, the Jelsa Municipal Library and Reading Room, the Jelsa Primary School, the Jelsa Volunteer Fire Department, and the local population, whose experiences and knowledge are used to better understand both historical and current cultural heritage. Cooperation with parents occurs through parent meetings, individual meetings, creative workshops, educational workshops and lectures, as well as joint work on projects (organizing performances for children and encouraging family teaching, where parents directly participate in the implementation of the projects).
