The Meyer University Hospital (AOU Meyer) has public legal personality and is endowed with entrepreneurial, organizational, administrative, patrimonial, accounting, managerial and technical autonomy.
The AOU Meyer is part of the National Health Service and in particular of the Health System of the Tuscany Region. It is integrated with the University of Florence with which it carries out, in a unified manner, assistance, teaching and research functions. It is characterized by the activities of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation aimed at young patients until they reach their majority in compliance, however, with the principle of continuity of care.
Meyer is a highly specialized pediatric hospital and national reference center for high pediatric complexity. It has 250 multi-specialist beds and is equipped with all the medical and surgical specialties of the pediatric area.
Modern technologies are associated with research activity and new therapies to achieve high levels of care in a context of humanization and reception services for families and young patients.
The structure is located at the foot of the Florentine hills and spread over 32,671 square meters with 5 thousand square meters of gardens on the terraces and on the roof, and is surrounded by a park of 72 thousand square meters. About 1,200 people work at Meyer, including university staff dedicated to assistance activities.
