Since its founding in 1998, it has upheld traditional values in its operations while also embracing a modern business approach. This combination has enabled it to become the absolute leader in the Montenegrin dairy industry. Located in the heart of the Bjelopavlići plain, surrounded by numerous pastures and small family farms, the dairy focuses on the production and processing of the finest milk. The result is high-quality products that are recognized and appreciated by consumers throughout Montenegro.

Over its 19 years of operation, Lazine Dairy has consistently worked to improve its business practices and to comply with the strictest international quality standards, in line with its mission—to become and remain a trusted friend of health for all its consumers and their families.

Milk is sourced from the Zeta–Bjelopavlići region and the northern parts of Montenegro, including Nikšić, Bijelo Polje, Berane, Rožaje, and Petnjica. These areas, known for their pristine nature and abundance of meadows rich in wildflowers and medicinal herbs, ensure milk of exceptional quality, and consequently, premium dairy products.

The quality of our products has been recognized and awarded at numerous international fairs, where we often receive top honors. However, the most important recognition is the trust of our loyal customers across Montenegro, whose tables are daily enriched with products from Lazine Dairy.

History


At the time, large state-owned dairies were processing over 50,000 liters of milk per day, while this small dairy from the village of Lazine near Danilovgrad started with just 100 liters of daily milk collection. Few believed it would survive—let alone achieve great success.

Nevertheless, guided by the well-known saying “God helps those who work hard,” the founders of Lazine Dairy, together with their families, built today’s well-known and respected Lazine Dairy brand through dedicated daily work and unwavering belief in success.

Alongside technological investments, we consistently invested in what we consider our most valuable resource—our people. Through their continuous training and education, we have steadily improved the quality of our products, always striving to maintain the highest possible standards.

The first international recognition came in 2004 at the Novi Sad Agricultural Fair, where the still relatively unknown Lazine Dairy won the highest award for product quality—the Grand Gold Medal, scoring the maximum 100 points. This was just the first of many awards to follow. The trust our customers and partners place in us is the most meaningful reward for our work and dedication.

In its early days in 1998, the dairy employed five workers. By 2017, that number had grown to 100 employees, including 12 university-educated professionals. In that year alone, Lazine Dairy collected and processed 7.5 million liters of milk, sourced from around 750 cooperating farmers located in the best pasturelands of central (Danilovgrad, Podgorica, and Nikšić) and northern Montenegro (Bijelo Polje, Berane, Rožaje, and Petnjica).

Great attention is paid to our cooperants: we settle payments for collected milk on time, supply quality concentrated feed at purchase prices, and provide both logistical and financial support for acquiring high-quality pregnant heifers, building and equipping facilities. Milk collection is performed daily, even from remote mountain villages over 200 kilometers away from the dairy, and farmers are continually educated to ensure the highest quality milk production.

Modern equipment, operated by highly trained professionals, allows for the production of top-quality products in full compliance with food safety standards. Since February 2007, Lazine Dairy has held the HACCP certificate.

Our product range consists of fresh dairy products, with a particular focus on fermented dairy products. Distribution is handled daily through our own vehicle fleet, covering all parts of Montenegro. Our products can be found in over 2,000 retail stores, hotels, and restaurants across the country. More than 80,000 cups of Lazine dairy products are consumed every day, meaning over 20,000 families enjoy the benefits of healthy dairy products from Montenegro’s largest dairy.

Our conscientious, expert, and responsible work, along with advanced equipment and technology and a fair relationship with our cooperants, has made Lazine Dairy recognized as Montenegro’s number one dairy brand and the absolute leader in fermented dairy products on the Montenegrin market.

In recognition of its achievements, the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro awarded Lazine Dairy a special plaque for success in 2011. At the 80th International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, the company won a total of 13 medals, including 6 Grand Gold Medals, 4 Gold Medals, and 3 Silver Medals.

As part of its ongoing efforts to expand and improve its product range, Lazine Dairy acquired a majority share in the Berane-based dairy “Zora” at the end of 2012.
