Gradište is located at the far eastern edge of Croatia, approximately 5 kilometers north of Županja and about 250 kilometers east of Zagreb.
As a municipality situated in western Syrmia, Gradište covers an area of 5,756 hectares. Of this, 3,652 hectares are arable land, 81 hectares are orchards, 1 hectare is vineyards, 57 hectares are meadows, 48 hectares are pastures, 1,314 hectares are forests, and 543 hectares are infertile land.
In terms of total area, compared to the settlements of the former Županja municipality, Gradište is smaller than Bošnjaci, Babina Greda, Drenovci, Vrbanja, and Soljani, but larger than Cerna, Županja, Strošinci, Posavski Podgajci, Štitar, Gunja, Đurići, Rajevo Selo, and Šiškovci.
