Noisy-le-Grand

Noisy-le-Grand is a commune in the eastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 15.2 km (9.4 mi) from the centre of Paris. The commune of Noisy-le-Grand is part of the sector of Porte de Paris, one of the four sectors of the “new town” of Marne-la-Vallée.

The name Noisy comes from Medieval Latin nucetum, meaning “walnut grove”, after the walnut trees covering the territory of Noisy-le-Grand in ancient times. The epithet “le-Grand”, meaning “the Great”, was added in the Middle Ages.

Some of the postmodern architecture in the commune has been used as a shooting location in movies including Brazil and The Hunger Games.

The main festive, tourist and cultural places and events are very numerous in Noisy-le-Grand, in particular the Christmas Market “, with a craft market, the most authentic and the largest in the Île-de-France, the many activities daily within the Espace Michel-Simon , the Carnival of Noisy, the Saint-Martin wood festival, the strides of Noisy, the music festival, etc.

The city center

It is the historic center of the predominantly old suburban town, with a recent restructuring of the construction of small and medium-sized buildings.

Economy

Previously Star Airlines (now XL Airways France) had its headquarters in the Immeuble Horizon building in the commune.
