Oporto British School opened on the first day of the Summer Term in 1894 with 11 boys, with the Rev WS Picken MA as the Master. The School house, located in the fashionable Porto suburb, Foz do Douro, was rented at the time but was eventually purchased in 1922 and remains part of the school’s facilities today.
Our Vision
Oporto British School aims to be an inspirational institution of thinking and learning, promoting excellence from all our pupils, and developing the compassionate, responsible leaders of the future.
Our Mission
To do everything we can to motivate each and every child here, and work to ensure they do the best they possibly can in their academic work and other areas of their lives. In doing this, we combine tradition with forward-thinking educational practice, providing a dynamic, high-quality and internationally-minded experience to develop creative, compassionate and inquiring life-long learners and leaders.
