The uniqueness of the square, which is one of the largest in Bohemia, lies not only in its area (2 ha, page dimensions: 153, 147, 134 and 127 m), but also in the system of streets in the corners and in the middle of its sides.
In the middle is a plague column. The square is one of the important remains of Gothic architecture in Bohemia. The last reconstruction took place in the years 1996 – 1997. The floor plan of the square also became the starting point for the modern logotype of the city (a turned green square with four smaller squares in the corners).
