The Public Housing and Utilities Company was established on July 1, 1999. It was created through the segmentation of the formerly unified Public Utility Company (JKP) into three separate entities: JP Komunalno Stambeno, JP Čistoća, and JP Vodovod i Kanalizacija.
The company’s core activities include the maintenance of public lighting, green areas, and local roads, as well as providing services at city markets and the municipal cemetery in Savina. In its early days, the company was extremely under-equipped. Over time, this situation improved, but it still does not fully meet the needs of the community. With the establishment of this company, its operations gained increasing recognition, and it can be said that both the company as a whole and its individual sectors became well-known. Residents and visitors alike have noticed significant progress.
Komunalno Stambeno has led numerous public lighting construction and reconstruction projects. Along with regular maintenance of existing installations, this has contributed to gradual and extensive improvement of public lighting across the municipality year after year.
The Sector for Green Space Maintenance has been consistently active in the upkeep of public green areas, the development of new squares and viewpoints, and the planting and renewal of green spaces.
Insufficient investment in the maintenance and renewal of local roads over an extended period—especially during the turbulent last decade of the 20th century—created a significant need for intensified infrastructure maintenance. Within the financial means provided by the municipality, the company has made continuous efforts to achieve positive progress in this field.
Significant and extensive projects have been carried out, including regulation of channels and streams for stormwater drainage, snow removal in certain areas of the municipality, New Year’s lighting decorations, and various other tasks.
Efficiency and cost-saving measures have been implemented as a priority throughout the company’s existence, ensuring financial stability without accumulating large debts or loans.
In accordance with applicable laws, the company was re-registered as a limited liability company (LLC) in 2014, updating its official documents while retaining its core activities.
