The primary activity of the Public Utility Company “Water Supply and Sewerage” Aleksinac: Collection, purification, and distribution of water
In addition to its primary activity, the Public Utility Company “Water Supply and Sewerage” Aleksinac is engaged in:
- Wastewater removal
- Pipeline construction
- Installation of water supply, sewerage, heating, and air conditioning systems
- Construction of hydraulic structures
Water Supply System of the Municipality of Aleksinac
The public water supply system, sourced from the “Bresje” Water Treatment Plant, provides water to Aleksinac and 19 surrounding settlements, serving approximately 35,602 residents of the municipality.
The water supply network includes main transmission pipelines, primary pipelines, and secondary water lines with consumer connections. The total length of these pipelines, excluding connections, is approximately 260 km. The public water supply system has around 11,000 connections. The data is based on records up to the year 2015. The pipeline infrastructure consists of various materials, including steel, galvanized steel, asbestos-cement, reinforced concrete, polyethylene, and PVC pipes.
To maintain the bacteriological stability of water in the large distribution network, a system of water rechlorination stations has been established. The chlorine stations are located in Žitkovac, Trnjane, Moravac, A. Bujmir, and Bobovište. Water rechlorination is carried out using a sodium hypochlorite solution.
In 2015, a mobile chlorine station was installed at the “Bovan” dam to disinfect raw water and maintain the sanitary condition of the main raw water pipeline. This pre-treatment process facilitates water purification at the treatment plant itself.
The Public Utility Company “Water Supply and Sewerage” Aleksinac conducts regular preventive flushing of the water supply network to ensure a higher level of hygienic safety of the pipes. Flushing is mainly performed during scheduled nighttime periods, with prior announcements on local radio and television.
