Rīgas Angļu ģimnāzija – Riga English Grammar School (REGS) –
is a public comprehensive school located in Riga (for 1064
students in 37 classes from 7 to 19 y.o.) and provides K12
education as well as extra-curricular activities for local
community (in Latvian).
Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is the main strategic priority of REGS. Teachers of REGS have been training for CLIL gradually and in a targeted manner for a number of years – starting with individual teacher initiatives and attendance of CLIL courses in Latvia, Malta and Great Britain.
This school year 60 teachers (from 92 who work at school) already use CLIL methods in their lessons, by developing CLIL methodology and searching the best approaches for implementation of CLIL according to current curriculum, as well as by drafting new curriculum with CLIL.
