Šobes vineyard: a vineyard with an ancient history

Visit one of the oldest vineyards in the Czech Republic, which ranks among the ten best vineyard locations in Europe. Its ideal conditions are ensured by a south-facing slope and high quality soil in the very heart of Podyjí National Park where it is located right on the side of a rocky promontory on a bend of the River Dyje. The quality of the location was allegedly already recognised by Roman legionnaires when they passed through Moravia in the 2nd century A.D. Wines from Šobes are of such a high quality that they are usually already sold out before the grapes are harvested and in 1996, even the British queen Elizabeth II enjoyed the Ruland Grey variety from this vineyard. Combine a visit with sight-seeing in Podyje National Park. The Greenways Prague–Vienna trail, which is suitable for walkers and cyclists, leads directly through the vineyards.
