Söderköpings Waldorfskola

The Waldorf school develops the whole person – thought, feeling and will. The underlying idea is that the child’s path to knowledge of himself and the world goes from the hand, through the heart, to the head. At the same time, the school wants to help children find security and self-confidence.
In school, the student’s full potential must be given the opportunity to grow. Every child is unique. It is important that the children themselves get a taste of this and experience that they are seen as individuals with individual opportunities. Individuality and social competence can be developed hand in hand. Everyone gets a place in a class community.

We want the young people to think for themselves and see things from several perspectives. In the science subjects, experiments are an important element because they require both activity and the ability to observe.

Past, present and future, everything must be included in history teaching, the focus is now on the events that created the world we live in today, the development of industrialism, the First and Second World Wars are important periods during these years.

In literary history, students meet the people and works that have influenced our history. At the same time, the teaching wants to promote that the students themselves think and practice their own thinking and ability to critically examine all the information that today’s society pours over us. By practicing argumentation and communication, students are prepared to dare to make active choices in their lives.
