The hospital was built in the 1960s with operating rooms connected to each department, according to the requirements of that time. In this case, the developer intended to centralize the operating theatres, grouping them with two which are required to be closely located to the operating rooms in modern hospital care. Therefore, the intensive care unit and the central sterilizer were transferred to the new building. The basis of modern hospital care is the immediate reception of patients through a single gate. It had been partly established earlier in the basement of the old building, funded by another program, but only in an inadequate area owing to the existing conditions. The reception was also enlarged, partly in the new wing. The new diagnostic imaging unit (CT, X-ray, ultrasound) is directly connected to the reception area. The front elevation of the new building resembles the old building with its architectural openings. The mounted ceramic tile cladding also evokes the original fixed cladding.
