The University Hospital Pilsen provides patients for the Pilsen Region with basic, specialized and so-called highly specialized medical care in all areas, with the exception of burn medicine, bone marrow transplantation in children, the most complex organ transplants and heart surgery in children. In some fields, we also provide health care for residents of adjacent regions, especially southern and northern Bohemia, Karlovy Vary and parts of central Bohemia. But, for example, in the field of artificial insemination, bone marrow transplantation, liver surgery, prostate surgery or kidney tumors, the importance of the University Hospital Pilsen is nationwide. Accredited professional centers are also very important. The hospital is connected with the Medical Faculty of Charles University in Pilsen.
Thanks to the long-term economic stability, the hospital invests in its development and purchase of the best medical equipment in order to provide patients, especially residents of the Pilsen Region, with the best and available medical care. For example, we have top-notch diagnostics using a computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and, most recently, PET / CT examinations. This method can detect developing cancer at a time when the patient does not yet have any problems associated with the disease. It also serves to select the optimal method of treatment of newly discovered cancers of hematopoiesis, lung tumors, or to assess residual disease after surgery for more advanced colon and breast tumors.
