Vejlefjord Rehabilitation is owned by the Vejlefjord Foundation and has a long history that reflects the development in society and changes in the need for collective, specialized professional expertise in various areas. Vejlefjord Rehabilitation is a specialized rehabilitation center for adults, young people and children who experience disability in connection with brain injury, long-term illness or surgery.
Great professional breadth, interdisciplinarity and specialization help to ensure that we can receive patients with diverse and complex needs for specialized rehabilitation.
Vejlefjord Rehabilitation is a supplier to VISO, where we provide specialist reports and advice on children and adults with brain damage, developmental disorders and often psychiatric comorbidity.
Vejlefjord Rehabilitation consists of 2 bed sections spread over 2 floors. There is also an Adult Outpatient Clinic and a Child Neurocenter that solve outpatient tasks for e.g. regions, municipalities and VISO. Ny Fjordbo is our housing offer that offers rehabilitation for young people aged approx. 15-40 years with a congenital or acquired brain injury and / or other neurological disorders. Vejlefjord Rehabilitation has 33 beds and Ny Fjordbo has 12 beds.
At Vejlefjord, we have, as one of the only specialist hospitals in Denmark, chosen neuropsychology as setting the tone. We work with a holistic approach, where the patient is the focal point in the treatment process, and where the relatives are involved as a natural part of the patient’s rehabilitation. The goal is always to help the patient to get the quality of life back and be equipped for everyday life.
We place emphasis on a good working environment, where professionalism is paramount, the patient is at the center, and the individual employee contributes to strengthening professional development through reflection on their own practice.
We have a technology committee, whose task is to be outreach in relation to new technology, as well as the implementation of new technology. We are a member of a nationwide ERFA group within technology, where the purpose is knowledge sharing across phase II and III offers. We are constantly acquiring new technology, and regularly have something on trial in order to assess the effect within neurorehabilitation.
At Vejlefjord Rehabilitation, evidence is paramount, and an evidence-based approach is part of Vejlefjord Rehabilitation’s business basis.
By evidence is meant at Vejlefjord Rehabilitation ‘The currently best knowledge one has about a given relationship’.
By evidence-based approach is meant that we work with and relate systematically, carefully and critically to both scientific knowledge (according to scientific criteria) and qualified professional assessments and experiences.
In rehabilitation, we thus work systematically to assess the strength of and combine the current scientific knowledge with professionals’ assessments and experiences. Always with an eye for the specific patient / resident’s wishes and situation.
