The Department is situated in the University Hospital of Ioannina in the North-West of Greece and is affiliated with the Medical School of the University of Ioannina.

The University General Hospital of Ioannina was established in 1990, has more than 760 beds and employs more than 2,000 staff members. It covers a very wide area, namely the western region of Greece, having a population catchment of more than 600,000 people. As a University Hospital, it also shares a long-standing affiliation with the Ioannina School of Medicine and the Ioannina School of Nursing. Some 45,000 people are treated annually in the Hospital’s Care Clinics and approximately 130,000 people use the Hospital’s Outpatient Department every year.
