Sights

Palmer Park

Green hyphen of 25 hectares, between the upper and lower Cenon, the Palmer park has vast rolling meadows, alleys bordering municipal facilities and a green theater and never ceases to reveal little corners to explore for the most great pleasure for young and old. Particularly suitable for families, Palmer Park has playgrounds and picnic areas as well as an orientation course and outdoor fitness modules. Enough to spend the whole day in the great outdoors!

Palmer Park offers a magnificent view of the Garonne and hosts many metropolitan gatherings and events throughout the year (Sustainable Development Days, High School Students’ Day, festival, etc.).

Cypressat Park

Located in the upper Cenon, the Cypressat park is a temple dedicated to wild nature. With its 17 hectares of quiet and unspoiled spaces, thanks to a program for the protection of flora and fauna, it is a perfect place to get away from the hubbub of the city for a change of scenery. Running enthusiasts will enjoy running through lush, quiet woods, and may encounter some deer.
Note that the park offers a unique panorama of Bordeaux and Cenon from a belvedere overlooking the left bank of the Garonne.

Domaine du Loret

With its 14 hectares of area, the Loret domain enriches Cenon’s green heritage. Former property of Monsieur Sursol, the largest producer of Cenonnais red wine in 1874, it now hosts sporting, cultural, artistic and educational activities around the environment. Note the presence of large meadows, as well as remarkable trees and an elegant Charterhouse.
From 2019, a space in the domain welcomes and accommodates the herd of intercommunal sheep from the right bank, responsible for the pastures of the hillside park.

Hillside park

A real green thread linking the sky, the earth and four cities, the Coteaux Park project highlights the 400 hectares of green and wooded spaces in the towns of Bassens, Cenon, Floirac and Lormont.

Their interconnection by gentle links (for pedestrians and cyclists) offers city dwellers walking routes through protected landscapes over 12 km from north to south.

Inter-park links will form hiking loops, a 25 km green thread, away from the noise of the city, yet very close.

Formerly vines

In its past, Cenon cultivated vines on lands adorned with rich estates. It hosted charming residences and second homes, bourgeois from the left bank.Cypress forest, green hills, fields, near, farmland- The nature and the wealth of its soil made Cenon an attractive town.

In the lower Cenon, palus and ancient swamps gave birth to fertile land where the cultivation of vines was ideal. Grands crus grew on Cenonnais soil. the merchants flourished, the beautiful residences and castles too. Some of these buildings have disappeared but many still remain scattered throughout the town. They remain the witness of part of the history of the city.
