Culture

Alikartano has been a museum. The National Board of Antiquities has defined the manor and its agricultural landscape as a nationally significant built cultural environment.

Library operations began in Mäntsälä as early as 1847. The current premises of the Mäntsälä Library are located in a multi-purpose building. Municipal residents are also served by a library car and there is an online library. In addition, material can be borrowed from other locations in the Kirkes library bundle .

Several villages in Mäntsälä have once had manors. Today, Hirvihaara Manor is a hotel, Saari Manor is an educational institution and Sälinkää Manor is a restaurant. Alikartano is a museum, but the National Board of Antiquities announced in 2015 that it would close the museum.  Other museums in Mäntsälä include the Kirvu Parish Museum and the Sepänmäki Handicraft Museum , in addition to which there is a museum room in Mäntsälä Church.

In the 1980s , Mäntsälä’s parish dishes were renneted cheese , a pot of potatoes and an apple pancake called kuutelo .
