Vision and method of our school in the field of active citizenship

Our school considers active citizenship important because we want our students to become engaged citizens who can and want to contribute to a better world. Active citizenship is also global citizenship. We give substance to active citizenship with various activities.

The point is that the student gets to know himself, learns to see himself as part of his environment. We opt for a positive approach and connecting themes, such as social cohesion, economic cohesion, cultural diversity, sustainable development, human rights and security. The emphasis is on opening up to others, learning from each other and being involved. Citizens of the world contrast involvement as an act with indifference. They take action, make a positive contribution to the community and thereby develop themselves.

According to our school, active citizenship requires experiential learning.
Learning from concrete experiences stimulates and motivates enormously. We opt for ‘learning by doing’, allowing concrete experiences to be gained by participating in activities in or outside the school.
