Sevran is a French commune located in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis , in the region Île-de-France . Formerly a small village in the plain of France , the town experienced spectacular development during the 1960s and 1970s , quadruple its population in less than forty years. The city shelters part of its territory the forest park of the national blowing snow of Sevran-Livry .

Its inhabitants are called the Sevranais .

Health 

Sevran has a municipal health center (Center municipal de Santé Louis Fernet ), a medico-psychological center, screening centers, maternal and child protection centers (PMI), a radiology center , and family planning located in the city center. The town also offered an omnibus (medico-social space), making it possible to provide care to people far from the city center and destitute, which no longer exists in 2017.

The city is attached to the CHU Jean Verdier in Bondy , to the CH Robert Ballanger in Aulnay-sous-Bois, and to the René Muret-Bigottini hospital of gerontology .

Transport

Cycle paths

cycle path has been set up: The Ourcq track, crossing the city, five municipal trails, two inter-municipal trails (built in 2004), a departmental line of parks, and three departmental trails.

The town has a fairly good connection with:

Cultural events and festivities 

Feast Day: in September, the city brings together sports and cultural associations as well as many municipal services, allowing them to introduce themselves to the population and to spend a moment of conviviality punctuated by the multitude of activities offered.

  • Read in Sevran: during October-November, the town’s libraries offer exhibitions, shows, meetings and workshops around a theme.
  • Telethon  : For several years, at the beginning of December, the city has actively participated in the Telethon, offering a festive and varied program to raise the maximum amount of funds for research: flea markets, entertainment, market, attractions, tea dancing.
  • Awakened Dreamers Festival: every year in January-February, the city organizes the Awakened Dreamers festival, artistic events (dance, theater, cinema, exhibitions, etc.) for children aged 3 to 6.
  • Artistic meetings: these are organized by the conservatory and allow students to discover the work of students in music and dance.
  • Every two years in May, the plastic arts department organizes the Estival des arts et métiers d’art to introduce craftspeople and artists around specific techniques.
  • Every year in June, the city organizes Zikfoot (Association Maximum Records since 2010) which combines football and music
  • Each year, the city of Sevran jointly organizes with the Association Sevran ville verte ville fleurie (ASVVVF) the Flower Houses and Flower Art competition.
  • The Sevran carnival was created in 1977, each year on a different theme.
  • Neighborhood festivals have existed since 1995 for Pont-Blanc and Rougemont and in 1996 for the Beaudottes. They are organized by the city’s political service, at the initiative of the municipality. 

Places and monuments 

The town hall is inseparable from the first secular school. It sheltered many personalities. Alfred Nobel who, after moving to Paris in 1873 in a mansion on avenue de Malakoff , was looking for a place to set up a laboratory near Paris. He acquired in Sevran the old castle of the stronghold of Fayet (the housing part of which housed the town hall until 2015) located near the Poudrerie nationale de Sevran-Livry . The town hall was then transferred to the renovated mansion of the former stronghold of the Fossée .

Sevran is a flower town, having obtained two flowers in the last flower towns competition . It offers its 47,063 inhabitants 88  hectares of green spaces managed by the municipality and 73  hectares by the National Forestry Office:

  • Badier park (avenue de Livry);
  • Louis-Armand Park;
  • the Parc des Sœurs;
  • the plain of the Cedars (rue Kilian and Youri-Gagarin);
  • the Roseraie (avenues André-Toutain, Dumont-d’Urville and Kilian);

Sports 

If Sunday fishermen probably no longer frequent the banks of the Canal , you can practice many sports in the city.

Thanks to the fifty-five sports associations of the town, the Sevranais can practice a wide variety of sports: martial arts , athletics , basketball , boxing , cycling , dance , horse riding , climbing , football , golf , gymnastics , handball, etc.

To practice these different sports, the municipality makes different sports complexes available to residents: the city of sports and the municipal sports school (rue Gabriel-Péri), ​​five gymnasiums and two multisport stadiums and a swimming pool.
