Rosny-sous-Bois is a commune in the eastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 10.1 km (6.3 mi) from the centre of Paris.

It is the seat of the national centre of road information of the national gendarmerie.

Town planning 

The city of Rosny-sous-Bois has 4 districts:

• La Boissière – Coteaux Beauclair  : located to the west of the city. It includes the shopping center ( Domus ), one of the largest European shopping centers dedicated to home improvement, but also a large low-rent housing district (La Boissière). 
• Center-Ville – Plateau d’Avron – Beauséjour  : located in the center and east of the city. The city center includes many shops, the town hall and a municipal swimming pool as well as a conservatory, a theater / cinema and an artistic and digital factory. The Plateau d’Avron is essentially a residential area and is home to a sports complex as well as the National School of Circus Arts. Beauséjour is a residential area in the northeast of the city.
• Marnaudes – Bois Perrier  : located north of the city. This district is known to be home to one of the largest French shopping centers, Westfield Rosny 2 . 
• Rosny Sud  : located south of the city. This district is exclusively residential, and is home to a few shops, several schools, a market, a small HLM district and residential areas.

Education

The city hosts 9 schools (nursery and primary), 3 colleges and 2 high schools, as well as a second chance school.

Each year, the departmental inspectorate and the heads of establishments organize discovery classes, in winter (snow class) and spring (countryside or sea class).

Health

The town is home to a Paul-Schmierer municipal medico-social center, bringing together five general practitioners and eighteen specialist physicians . Built in the late 1960s, the Hoffmann clinic closed in 2016 despite the lack of doctors.

Economy 

Historically, the city has developed through its market gardening and the exploitation of gypsum . 

In 2007, the main employers were, according to the CCIP  :

• Municipality of Rosny-sous-Bois – 1,050 jobs – public services
• Carrefour – 650 jobs – large distribution
• Leroy Merlin – 250 jobs – DIY retail
• National Old Age Insurance Fund – 250 jobs – public services
• Coloplast Laboratories – 250 jobs – private services

Shops and shopping centers 

In addition to the many shops in the city center and local shops in the various neighborhoods, since the 1970s the city has hosted the largest shopping center in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis , the Westfield Rosny 2 shopping center .

Since 2006 , a new shopping center, the Domus shopping center , has been opened in Rosny. It is one of the largest shopping centers in Europe dedicated to home equipment. 

Pole of tertiary employment, the city of Rosny-sous-Bois is also the seat of the technical center of the National Gendarmerie.

Places and monuments 

• The strong Rosny , was built between 1840 and 1846 on the instructions of Thiers , to ensure the defense of Paris. 
• the Regional Railway Museum of Rosny-sous-Bois.
• The municipal museum Louis-Émile-Auxerre (History of Rosny).
• The church built by St. Genevieve Claude Nascent 
• The Saint-Laurent church built in 1930 by Albert Chauvel , with a pediment of millstones and bricks.
• The Notre-Dame-de-la-Visitation chapel.
• The Le Cep statue.
• The Le Trianon cinema. The city center now hosts a new cinema which also serves as a theater: Espace Georges Simenon, in addition to the UGC Rosny-Sous-Bois cinema at the Rosny 2 shopping center.
• The station, dating from 1910 .
• The city was the headquarters of the National Traffic Information Center (Bison Smart) until it closed in 2016.
• The city’s municipal golf course.
