Zamárdi

Zamárdi the lake on the south coast, Somogy County , the Siófoki district , Siofok and Balatonfoldvar away from the city . His name was Balatonzamárdi between 1932 and 1943 . 

Main sights

Donkey 

One of the main attractions of the city is Donkey Stone . The Szamárkő the west end of town, a small forest in the outskirts. On the heavily worn, undulating rock, a trough-like depression can be seen, and at the end of it a “fire pit”. A circular carved stone rests on the rock from the south. There are two traces on the smaller stone nearby.

Kőhegy lookout tower

To the south-west of the settlement rises a beautiful elevation with excellent vineyards and a wonderful panorama, where next to a stone cross there are wine cellars and weekend houses.  A beautiful panorama opens up from the lookout at the top of Kőhegy , which can be reached on the hiking trail . The site of the lookout tower, built in 2000 in memory of the Millennium, once housed the press house of the Tihany Abbey until 1948. 

Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption 

The Roman Catholic church on Main Street was built between 1771 and 1774 in Baroque style. The altarpiece, the pulpit and the baptismal font are monuments. The church is a venue for concerts in the summer and its farewell is in early September (Our Lady ). In front of the church stands a stone cross dating from 1862. Behind it stands a statue of St. John of Nepomuk in a masonry booth, which is also a monument. 

Resort Chapel 

The construction of the chapel in Petőfi Street, in the recreation area, was justified by the tourist life of Lake Balaton in the 1920s. The small church was consecrated on August 15, 1929 in honor of the Lady of the Hungarians . Its construction is named after Dr. Purebl Győző, a professor and councilor, and the building is decorated with statues of Ede Margó . The chapel awaits the faithful all year round. 

Chapel of Heroes

This neo-Byzantine chapel is located on Calvary Hill during the Cemetery . On the initiative of the parish priest Benő Laki, it was designed by Viktor Gecse to commemorate the heroic dead of the area. 

Country house 

The furnishing of the country house on Fő utca is a 19-20. presents the living conditions of a wealthy peasant family of the 19th century. Most of the exhibits are from the local local history collection. Behind the house is a thatched barn. 

The Hungarian Pain Statue

The sculpture entitled Hungarian Pain is located in the immediate vicinity of the railway station, on Szabadság Square and is the work of sculptor Ede Margó (1872-1946). In the 1930s, he donated it to the town of Zamárdi because he had a holiday home here.

Balaton Sound Festival 

Every July since 2007 , the Balaton Sound Festival, organized by the Sziget Cultural Organizing Office, is held in the settlement , where mainly representatives of electronic music perform.
