The Vila Franca de Xira Hospital (HVFX) was opened in April 2013. It is a public hospital, integrated into the National Health System and managed through a partnership model between the Portuguese State and José de Mello Saúde.

It provides health care to approximately 250 thousand people in the municipalities of Alenquer, Arruda dos Vinhos, Azambuja, Benavente and Vila Franca de Xira and has basic, intermediate and differentiated services that are provided in the inpatient and outpatient regime through multidisciplinary clinical teams , highly qualified to provide excellent health services with state-of-the-art technological equipment.

Assuming a commitment to Clinical Quality and Patient Safety, Hospital Vila Franca de Xira has been systematically recognized as one of the best hospitals in the country by SINAS – National Health Assessment System, promoted by the Health Regulatory Entity and also by “ TOP 5 – Hospital Excellence ”promoted by the multinational clinical benchmarking IASIST, which has been recognizing the hospital as one of the three best in the country in its comparison group.

Accredited since 2014 by the Joint Commission International (JCI), the most prestigious accrediting organization in the health field worldwide, the Hospital Vila Franca de Xira is also certified by the SGS Certification Body in Quality, Environment and Occupational Health and Safety Management

The Vila Franca de Xira Hospital has more than 1400 employees from doctors, nurses, technical assistants, operational assistants, diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, superior health technicians, among others.
