Imatra Spa

Finland

Imatra Spa is an Imatra spa hotel founded in 1985 , located on the shores of Lake Saimaa in the Imatra leisure center.

The design of the Imatra leisure center began in 1966, when the city of Imatra signed a design contract with architect Paavo Tammekann. The design included the development of a campsite, harbor, sports facilities, fishing, sports and municipal technology networks and a spa. In 1981, Suunnittelutoimisto Tapio Korpisaari Oy was chosen as the chief designer of the Imatra Spa building, with architect Seppo Jurvanen as the chief designer. Interior designer Vuokko Kantanen was responsible for the interior design. In 1992, a new annex was built with squash courts, a gym, sports facilities, offices and a bar.

When the largest investment in the expansion of the premises was made in 1999–2001, the design was the responsibility of Arktes Oy Architects, with Paavo Karjalainen as the main designer. Interior designer Leena Litovuo was responsible for the interior design. The investment of approximately EUR 15 million focused on the adventure spa, the spa street connecting the new and old parts, and the expansion of the hotel. The change was a success and coincided with a good seam for the development of the tourist environment. With Karelia and Litovuo, the planning of holiday homes was also carried out in 2003, as well as the expansion of the restaurant, pool and conference facilities in 2007–2008. The original hotel rooms in the spa building were modernized in 2004 and 2013. The design was carried out by the Manninen & Kni Architects, with Eeva Manninen as the main designer.

Spa Magic Forest effects and theater stage technology have been designed and built by ElectroWaves Oy.
